What We Do

We provide first-line support to victims of illegal online behaviour, including non-consensual intimate image abuse (“NCII”). Our support includes: (i) identifying and legally qualifying unlawful behaviour and assessing the extent to which it violates the Terms and Conditions of relevant social media platforms (commonly referred to as “Community Standards”); (ii) reporting the content to the relevant platforms; (iii) implementing containment and remediation measures to limit the harm to victims; and (iv) where necessary, lodging a complaint before the competent court through our network of external legal advisors.

"Deepnude" is a serious and growing societal concern. The Institute for the equality of women and men have published a survey (2023) conducted on young people in Belgium between the ages of 15 and 25.  The survey shows that 1 in 10 (13.8%) say  they have previously received a deepnude, and nearly 8 in 100 (7.6%) acknowledge having a  deepnude in their possession.

You can detect the presence of your image on the web by assigning a unique digital footprint to your image (which you can share with the major platform).  This service is offered free of charge by StopNCII.org (UK non-profit organization, helping adults to remove content online), and the National Center for Missing & Exploited hildren via its service "Take It Down" (U.S. non-profit organization, helping adults to remove images published when they were minors).

UK non-for profit "Revenge Porn Helpline" gives useful practical recommendations to victims:

  • Collect evidences: take screenshots and collect direct URL links to where the content has been shared online
  • Stop, block and report: block communication with the perpetator, report any accounts they may have used to contact you or share content on
  • Search and monitor the web: set up Google alert (on your name or other search terms), reverse search an image, copy URL link of an image, remove broken links or outdated cache pages, remove content from search engine.
  • Report to the Police: it is against the law to share intimate images without consent
  • Report to the platform: report the content to the platform or website where the content has been shared.

NEW - trustedflaggers under the DSA

Under the Digital Services Act (DSA), trusted flaggers are specialized entities recognized for their expertise in identifying illegal online content. Notices submitted by trusted flaggers must be prioritized and treated with particular attention by online platforms. In Belgium, three organizations have been designated so far: Unia, the Vlaams Mensenrechteninstituut (VMRI), and Child Focus. We are currently exploring the possibility of submitting our own application for trusted flagger status in the near future.
